How to download from Lanzou Cloud outside China
Lanzou Cloud is one of the few Chinese cloud platforms where overseas users can sometimes download files directly without an account. Here is how it works and where the limits are.
Lanzou Cloud (also known as Lanzoux or Lanzouyun, accessible across domains including ilanzou.com, lanzn.com, and lanzoux.com) is a lightweight Chinese file sharing platform that takes a different approach from most Chinese cloud storage services. Small files can be downloaded directly from a share link without creating an account, which makes it more accessible to overseas users than almost any other Chinese cloud platform.
The no-account download only works up to a point. Files over 100MB, links that require a password, and anything on the newer Youxiang version of the platform all require a logged-in account, which means a Chinese phone number. For larger files the same obstacles apply as everywhere else.
Key takeaways
- Files under 100MB on Lanzou's original version can often be downloaded directly from a share link without an account, even from outside China.
- The interface is entirely in Chinese, which can make navigating the download page confusing for overseas users despite no login being required.
- Files over 100MB or links on the Youxiang version require a registered account with a Chinese phone number.
- Lanzou does not throttle download speeds for any user. Speeds depend on your local connection rather than a server-side limit.
- Lanzou uses multiple domains (ilanzou.com, lanzn.com, lanzoux.com, and others) that all serve the same platform.
What makes Lanzou different from other Chinese cloud platforms
Almost every major Chinese cloud storage platform requires an account to download anything. Lanzou's original version allows direct downloads from share links for files under 100MB without registration. That is a genuine exception in this space and means overseas users with small Lanzou links have a viable free route that does not exist for Baidu Pan, Quark Pan, or most other services.
The platform also does not throttle download speeds for any user. Domestic users report speeds of 10-30MB/s, significantly faster than Baidu Pan's free tier. Overseas users still face routing instability from the Great Firewall, but without a deliberate throttle on top of it.
Navigating the Chinese interface
The main practical obstacle for overseas users who can download without an account is the interface. Lanzou's share pages are entirely in Chinese with no English option. For a simple direct download the process is usually straightforward: the download button is visible and clicking it works. But links with password protection require entering a Chinese-language extraction code in a field that is not labeled in English, and error messages are in Chinese.
Using your browser's built-in translation feature on the page helps significantly. Chrome's automatic translation handles most of the interface well enough to navigate the download flow without understanding Chinese.
The multiple domains
Lanzou share links appear under several different domains: ilanzou.com, lanzn.com, lanzoux.com, lanzov.com, and others. These are all the same platform with the same interface and the same functionality. The domain variation appears to be a load distribution or historical migration artifact rather than separate products. A link on any of these domains works the same way.
When an account is required
The no-account download only applies to files under 100MB on Lanzou's original version. Files larger than 100MB, links shared through the Youxiang version of the platform, and some password-protected links require a registered account. Registration requires a Chinese phone number. There is no alternative verification path.
The Youxiang version is Lanzou's newer paid tier that supports files up to 10TB and large file uploads. Files shared from Youxiang accounts are increasingly common as the platform pushes users toward the newer version.
The practical path for larger files
For Lanzou links that require an account or involve files over 100MB, a paid mirror service handles the account requirement and the routing instability, delivering a direct download link without any of the login steps.
BAIDUDL supports Lanzou Cloud alongside Baidu Pan, Quark Pan, Alipan, 123Pan, Xunlei Pan, UC Drive, Feijipan, Feemoo, 139 Yun, 189 Cloud, 115 Wangpan, Weiyun, and several other Chinese cloud services. One-time plans require no account: paste the Lanzou share link regardless of which domain it is on, select a plan that covers the file size, pay, and receive a direct download link by email valid for 7 days.
